150th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony
Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology The 150th anniversary ceremony was held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Lumiere Fuchu in Fuchu City, Tokyo.
More than 100 companies, organizations, and public institutions were present to celebrate the anniversary.
The commemorative ceremony opened with a musical performance by the University Orchestra, followed by a ceremonial speech by President Kazuhiro Chiba, the introduction of the guests, and a congratulatory telegram from Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Toshiko Abe and others.
Kazuhiro Chiba, President, said, "Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology has the strength of being able to go beyond the fields of agriculture and engineering and show the direction we should aim for, and I believe that it is our role to realize it. To that end, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology would like to move forward together with industry, public institutions, and local communities. Above all, with the belief that we will expand the future value of our students, I would like to create a succession of students who will master their specialty, look deeply at the world, and take on challenges with courage." He gave a ceremonial speech.
Mr. Shinichiro Kanda of the popular comedy duo "Hama Khan", an alumnus of the university, and Mr. Koharushi Tachikawa, a rakugo artist who was also a graduate of the university and was promoted to the rank of Shinichi last year, moderated the challenge of Tokyo TUAT with an eye on the future of 150 years, titled "Beyond 150," and introduced the cutting-edge research envisioned by researchers at Tokyo University for the bright future with video content.
At the banquet, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology original shochu, Japan sake, beer, etc. were served, and the researchers of our university and the companies and organizations in attendance talked about the future of industry-government-academia collaboration, making it a commemorative ceremony that is typical of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology.
