在欧州日本国大使館を表敬訪問
Courtesy visit to the Embassy of Japan in Europe
ムーンショット目標5のプログラムディレクターとして、プログラムメンバーである早稲田大学 弦間正彦理事、竹山春子教授、下川哲准教授、お茶の水女子大学 由良敬教授、九州大学 穴井豊昭教授、理化学研究所和田智之チームリーダー、同 松井南、市橋泰範チームリーダーらと、在欧州日本国大使館を表敬訪問しました。山本EU大使と対談させていただき、日本およびEUの食料政策や研究連携の必要性について、幅広く意見交換をさせていただきました。特に、農産物や食品の輸出入においては、EUは連合体としてしっかりした基準設定を進めており、日本としても早期に国際標準化の議論に参画する必要があることが議論されました。日本とEU諸国では土壌、気象、地形、水供給など食料生産環境が大きく異なることもあり、国際基準については日本側もしっかり発信していくことが重要であると考えます。
As Program Director for Moonshot Goal 5, I paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Japan in Europe, together with program members including Waseda University Trustee Masahiko Gemma, Professor Haruko Takeyama, Associate Professor Satoru Shimokawa, Professor Takashi Yura of Ochanomizu University, Professor Toyoaki Anai of Kyushu University, Team Leaders of RIKEN, Dr Satoshi Wada, Dr Minami Matsui, Dr Yasunori Ichihashi of the same institution, etc. We had a conversation with EU Ambassador Yamamoto and exchanged a wide range of views on food policy and the need for research collaboration between Japan and the EU. In particular, we discussed the need for Japan to participate in discussions on international standardization of agricultural and food imports and exports at an early stage, as the EU is promoting the establishment of firm standards as a federation. Since the food production environment in Japan and EU countries differs greatly in terms of soil, weather, topography, water supply, etc., it is important for Japan to communicate clearly about the international standards.
